Raksasa Gallery: “Ganesha” by Master Carver Wayan K. One of the most recognized and worshiped Gods of Hindu Mythology, Ganesha is revered as a “Remover of Obstacles” and the God of Intellect and Wisdom. He is the the son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, but through a terrible twist in fate Lord Shiva cut off Ganesha’s head. As a God, Lord Shiva was able to bring his son back to life with turmeric powder and the head of an elephant. As a husband, he had to reconcile with Parvati by offering omnipotent powers for their son. While acts of transgression among Gods can seem strange at a glance, practical underlying wisdom is always present. The cutting off of one’s head is the duty of Lord Shiva if one’s individual ego becomes selfish, then replacing Ganesha’s head with an elephant symbolizing the need for a bigger, more universal ego encompassing all of humanity. Ganesha’s pursuit of wisdom led him to become a patron of Arts and Science. His greatest accomplishment was writing the most famous Hindu Epic “The Mahabharata” about a battle between two royal families that spark poignant conflicts in the human condition, that result in meaningful wisdom. Good listening skills, inner beauty, controlling impulses, dreaming big, and removing obstacles on a path to success, are among Ganesha’s noble virtues. Ignite your spirit with Raksasa Mods.
