Raksasa Gallery: “Rebab Witch” by Master Carver Lumbung. “Pendekar Rebab” translates as a “Spiked Fiddle Bow Swordsman,” or “Master of the Spiked Fiddle.” Of Arab origin from the 8th century, the “Rebab” is one of the oldest instruments of Bali, used to carry the melody for primary instruments. Master Lumbung chose this Raksasa Mod design as an offering of gratitude to “Rebab Witches” who mastered this ancient instrument as a tool of healing. A lover of songbirds that sing while he works, Master Lumbung believes frequencies in song or sound influences our emotions and spiritual consciousness. The Rebab is especially powerful by emitting similar frequencies to the human voice. Legends in Balinese folklore, speak of “Rebab Witches” using the power of “Leak” magic to cast dark spells through Rebab music. “Leak” is widely considered magic of the dark arts, but ancient Balinese Sanskrit scripture tells a different tale. To become a Master of “Leak,” one must commit to a life of meditation and introspection in the spiritual realm of human frequencies. By entering a state of “Taksu” (spiritual charisma), one can elevate their spirit and illuminate darkness. With strong Taksu, a Master Bow “Swordsman” can access altered dimensions of higher consciousness through melody. Here, one can communicate with souls of the dead to learn of powerful frequencies in healing and transformation. A “Rebab Witch” uses this musical knowledge to combat illness and disease in their communities. Inspiring imagination and wonder for the limitless universe in the inner and outer realms, is the guiding purpose for a Rebab Witch. They know all humans are capable of healing themselves with guidance. Every song from a Witch’s Rebab, casts a spell of the sensuous, illustrious beauty of our inner world. Healing our hearts and minds through well crafted frequencies comes from a life of focused dedication, and generous offerings of service and gratitude for our greater communities. Ignite your spirit with “Rebab Witch,” Master Swordsman of the Spike Fiddle.
